Well, here's a bit of a scoup. Oregon Jim, one of the many delegates at Duneditin 2009, fortunately captured for posterity the Duneditin 2009 True or False quiz, which you can listen to here, thanks to FileAve.com

You will hear snippits of the simultanous translation amongst some of the overseas delegates, plus Hotboy becoming a tad over-enthusiastic and complaining about the rules, plus, of course, the testing questions of the quiz master.

I say!

The main conference report has appeared over at my place. Here is a brief supplementary:

Hotboy's particularly brief, but to the point, presentation on "Bliss, blogging, bonking, bourgeois, bondage, baldness, bars, bestiality, beer, bhang, breath, Buddhism - what is the connection?" was very well attended.

My own presentation, entitled "Bradman, Boycott, Botham, Butcher, Bailey, Brearley, Barnes, Barrington, Bedser, Benaud, Bland, Bolus, Border - what is the connection?" drew a particularly warm response.

Even Brian Wilson's presentation, on "Brian, Beach Boys, Brian and the Beach Boys - is there a connection?" went down quite well with those of the audience who had not vacated to the bar for the tenth drinks interval, just after lunch.

I must also say that I thought my second presentation on "The effects of premature nappy training on bloggers in the Scottish diaspora" went down very well. I was rather surprised that some of the audience had taken the title to heart, and wore appropriate costume (if that's the correct word). An artist's impression is shown below.

I am now back in Kalimbuka and can report that despite some technical problems and the lack of a straightjacket (which would have come in very handy when Brian Wilson appeared resistant to the standard dose of sedation administered by the Ardvasar GP), Duneditin 2009 was a resounding success.

A full report will appear here once I have finished all of the duty free.

Not long to go now until Duneditin 2009 gets underway at the International Conference and Leisure Centre, Ardvasar Hotel, Isle of Skye, on Friday 14th August.

Tanning in Skye

The machine in the last picture is a midge eater. Very important in Skye where as we have seen, the midges can grow quite large.

Fairies at Duneditin, etc

Well, the plans for Duneditin 2009 are all made, and all that is left is to anticipate meeting you all in Ardvasar on 14th August.

Some words of warning about the Island of Skye, though.

Fairies are common in Skye. There is a Fairy Bridge, a Fairly Glen, a Fairy Tower, Fairy Pools, and fairy this and that. It is possible to be completely away with the fairies, on Skye.

It's not the fairies you really need to be worried about, but rather the highland midge. They can grow very large on Skye - an artists' impression of an overgrown midge is shown below. Midge repellent is essential. I would advise every attendeed to come armed with at least one bucket full of midge repellent.

Duneditin 2009 Booze Cruises, etc

I would just like to draw Duneditin 2009 attendees' attention to some of the many other distractions available on the Isle of Skye during August.

These include Sea Kayaking, available from Skyak Adventures.

Here is an artists impression of the sort of fun you can have in a kayak in Skye.

There will also be the usual obligatory conference booze cruise. Here is an artist's impression of the Duneditin 2009 Booze Cruise, with the "Skyescrapers" of Ardvasar in the background.

Buses to and from all social events will, of course, be provided at no additional charge, but these need to be pre-booked with the conference organisers.

There will be no math allowed at Duneditin, to be held on the Isle of Skye, on Friday 14th August, but there may just be an aftermath.

Wonderful news about the forthcoming Duneditin 2009 conference which will take place in the International Conference and Leisure Centre, Ardvasar Hotel, Isle of Skye, on Friday 14th August.

The news is that after some lengthy negotiations, Hotboy has agreed to sign copies of his bestselling novel "Are you boys cyclists?" during the sixth drinks interval in the main foyer area. The novel is described by Amazon as "a reflective and erotic novel". He has also promised to reveal to what extent the book is autobiographical.

I say - let's hope the signing queue isn't too long.

Following the success of the Duneditin 2008 conference, held in Brian Wilson's castle in Porty, we are pleased to announce that Duneditin 2009 will take place in the International Conference and Leisure Centre, Ardvasar Hotel, Isle of Skye, on Friday 14th August, from opening time until we're all turfed out.

Duneditin 2009 is expected to brings together one of the largest international gatherings of 'A' list bloggers ever held on the Isle of Skye. This is an unrivalled opportunity for individuals and teams to attend presentations and tutorials by leading experts in the blogging world, and will also enable networking, collaboration, sharing of technical information, and the building of trust and blissful relationships. Previous Duneditin conferences have attracted personalities from several continents who shared knowledge, expertise and related skills.

This is the official Call for Papers for the conference.

Several keynote speakers have confirmed their attendance, including moi (Menzies Milngavie III), and Hotboy.

For this year's conference, plenary session topics will include "Ralwin's final postulate: did the end come too soon?" and "Blogging, nappy training, premature baldness and the evil bourgeois"
